LIVE: Freedom 251, world’s cheapest smartphone launch event

Ringing Bells, a little-know Noida-based company, has launched what it is calling India’s most affordable smartphone, but Freedom 251 might well be the cheapest smartphone in the world.

The fact that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikkar is attending the launch to attend it and the phone comes with government of India apps for Swachch Bharat and Women Safety shows that Ringing Bells has probably received support from the government for the Make in India and Digital India campaign.

Bookings for the Freedom 251 open on February 18 at 6 am and close on 21 February at 8 pm. The company says deliveries will be completed by 30th June 2016. The Freedom 251 will be available via its website.
