India’s BRICS Logo and Website Launched

India assumed BRICS Chairmanship from the Russian Federation for the year 2016.

Hon’ble External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj, in a ceremony organized on this occasion in New Delhi today, formally unveiled the BRICS Logo for the duration of India’s BRICS Chairmanship. Hon’ble EAM also launched India’s BRICS Website on this occasion.

A cash-reward of Rs. 50,000/- was handed over by the Hon’ble EAM to the winner of the BRICS logo-contest that had received well over five hundred and seventy entries from across the country.

Hon’ble EAM announced that the 8th BRICS Summit would be organized in Goa, India, on 15-16 October 2016. Over fifty meetings and events, at the Ministerial, Senior Officials, Working Groups, Technical, and Track-II levels, are proposed to be organized during India’s BRICS Chairmanship through the year.

Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions is the core-theme for our BRICS Chairmanship with a special focus on institution-building, implementing past commitments, and exploring innovative solutions in a spirit of continuity with consolidation.

People-to-People interactions, business, youth, and sports will be the key priority areas for our BRICS Chairmanship. The BRICS Under-17 Football Tournament, BRICS Film Festival, BRICS Friendship Cities Conclave, BRICS Wellness Forum, BRICS Trade Fair, BRICS Youth Summit, BRICS Think-Tank Forum, BRICS Academic Council etc. will be hosted during India’s Chairmanship. Participation of people from across the States will be encouraged in various BRICS events during India’s Chairmanship. BRICS events will also be organized in different States across the country.

Representatives from media, Business and Commerce Chambers, and country representatives from BRICS countries were in attendance.
