Truecaller has become an indispensable tool to identify unknown phone numbers. It has announced a number of additions to its popular caller ID app today. Truecaller knows that it can’t ignore the tech-savvy users of India and that is why when it introduced Truecaller 8, its updated version of the app, it has included two new features just for Indian users.

Truecaller 8 it is coming to Android soon and will offer a great deal more functionality than it’s been offering up to this point. Here, we are discussing important features of Truecaller 8.

Highlights of Truecaller 8:

Truecaller Pay: Truecaller has partnered with ICICI Bank to launch a UPI-based mobile payment service called ‘Truecaller Pay’. It will allow users of the Truecaller app to instantly create a UPI id, send money to any UPI id or a mobile number registered with the BHIM app.

It will also enable users to recharge their mobile number from within the app itself. Any user of Truecaller app, including non-ICICI Bank customers can link their bank account of any bank (participating in UPI) to create a UPI id and instantly make payments.

Video Calling: Together with Google Duo, Truecaller brings a new video calling option to the newly announced Truecaller 8 to improve video calling for millions of Truecaller users. The app will soon feature a Duo button alongside contact information, allowing you to initiate a Duo-enabled video call from within Truecaller itself.

The feature also means that Truecaller will filter out video call spammers as well. The above update isn’t yet available and will be integrated into Truecaller “in the coming months” as an opt-in service.

SMS Service: Through the Truecaller Android app, users will now be able to identify rogue SMS messages, in addition to calls, meaning they can filter out those pesky spam texts. Truemessenger, a standalone app that did this, has now been integrated into the main Truecaller interface. Truecaller points out that you can even block SMS by name and number series.

Airtel Truecaller ID: Truecaller in collaboration with Airtel announced the new Airtel Truecaller ID. This move is to extend the Truecaller caller ID to Airtel’s non-data users using feature phones via Flash SMS.

Truecaller doesn’t directly support feature phones, but the partnership means that Airtel will be able to query a Truecaller database to deliver caller ID directly to feature phone users.

Flash Messaging: Additional functionality includes a flash messaging feature, which, allows you to respond to messages with quick, canned responses. These responses even include location information. Truecaller calls this Flash Messaging.
